It’s been a month and a half but I’m back online. To bring you up to speed, basicly what happened was this…
Comcast came on May 2nd to hook up our TV and run cable upstairs for our internet and a 2nd TV. The TV part went fine but the guy didn’t know how he was supposed to run the cable upstairs…. so he didn’t. Two weeks of calling our representitive without any response, my girlfriend and I were both getting rather angry. We then got our bill for $200. Angie called me on my way home from work and told me this. I then called Bill, our rep, and called him unprofessional for not returning our calls and told him how now I was gonna have to fight with Comcast about the bill because the prices on there wern’t the ones he promised us. Upon getting home, I called Comcast and the nice guy who answered pointed out to me that this bill was for two months…. Well, great, now I feel like an ass for yelling at Bill about the priceing… although I was still mad he didn’t return my calls.
I then took it upon myself to schedule another guy to come out and run the cable upstairs. I told the guy that we needed two cable outlets on the second floor for internet and a second tv. He said ok and we set a date. When this guy came out, he went upstairs and when he realized there wern’t cables up there already, he said that Comcast doesn’t fish wires though walls and that according to his supervisor, no comcast tech has EVER ran wires upstairs for anyone in our apartment complex. That’s a load of bull.
I called our landlady and she had the head maintenance guy talk to the Comcast tech. Head maintnance guy told him he could drill a hole in the wall and run the wire outside and up to the second floor and back inside through another hole. After getting of the phone, the Comcast guy told his supervisor what he was supposed to do and his suppervisor told him, you’re not doing that. The problem is that he should have done it. Our apartment complex and Comcast have a special deal about running cable up to the second floor. Apparently only two people at Comcast know about this deal, Bill the rep and Bill the higher-up.
I was given Bill the higher-up’s number from apartment management. Bill told me the last guy was being lazy and that he should have done the job. He assured me that he’d get everything straightened out for me and have my Bill the rep call me back. Bill the Rep did indeed call me back later that day and told me that he never got any of my messages. I should point out that by now it has been about a month since the first Comcast guy came. Bill the Rep apologized and told me he’d get someone out here to get the job done for us.
While all this was going on I called Comcast again to make sure we weren’t being billed for this. A very nice lady named Angel told me that we should just deduct any internet costs from our bill when we send it in. That was the easiest part so far. Bill the rep called me back a few days later saying that he was waiting for the Comcast Tech who knew about the deal with running cables to call him back. The next week I got a call from this tech and guess what, his name is also Bill. So Bill the Tech said that he could come out on Saturday. Saturday would be great Bill! A little later that week I called Bill the Rep to see if we could have the fee for having the cables put in waived since it’s been a month and a half. Bill the Rep agreed that it has been taking way to long and not to worry about the fee. Wow, Bill the Rep isn’t such a bad guy after all!
With that, we are up to date, and here I am writing my first real post in what seems like ages. Now, I wasn’t 100% cut off from the internet the past 44 days. I did get to go online at work but I wasn’t able to check my personal email or watch any videos or anything like that. But I am glad to be back and I hope to get things moving again.
Just wanted to let you know that I’m not dead. I don’t have internet access at home right now and will be back to posting once Comcast gets us hooked up.
We made the last of our major purchases yesterday. We got our 37″ Vizio HDTV from Sam’s Club and our 5 piece entertainment sofa form Value City Furniture. It feels good to have all the big things out of the way. Now we need to gear up for next week’s move. I’ll probibly try to start packing some things up on Monday or Tuesday. Wednesday through Friday will be the major packing days. The couch will be the first item to be delivered. It’s coming on Thursday afternoon so When I go see the place for the first time with all the new upgrades, The couch should be there.
Now, you may have read that last sentence and wondered what I was talking about when I mentioned the new upgrades. It appears Fred and Millie (the people who lived there before us) Were there for quite a long time and just about everything was showing its age. The yellow shag carpet is being replaced with an off white carpet, the kitchen is being completely redone with new tile floors, new cabinets, new countertops that look like granite, and all new appliances. Both bathrooms are getting new lighting and possibly some other new stuff, most of the walls are getting a fresh coat of white paint.
All this new stuff should help motivate us to keep the place in good condition… I think. Well, I’m gonna go watch a movie, “Close Encounters of the Third Kind”. Believe it or not, I haven’t seen it yet, at least, not that I can remember.

The Philadelphia Flyers beat the Washington Capitals 3-2 in overtime of game seven. They move on to play the Montreal Canadians in the next round of the NHL Playoffs. Congratulations to the entire team!
